Pregnancy Testing:

• When a woman becomes pregnant, her body produces a hormone called hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin) that is detectable in her urine. Home pregnancy tests detect the presence of that hormone.
• If your pregnancy test is negative, it is recommended that you use another pregnancy test three days later.
• A negative home pregnancy test result means that no pregnancy hormone has been detected and you are probably not pregnant. If your period does not start within a week, you may have miscalculated the day your period was due. Use another pregnancy test. If the second test still gives you a negative result and you have not begun your menstrual cycle, consult your physician.
• If your pregnancy test is positive, consult your physician soon. Home pregnancy testing is a precursor to professional pregnancy testing and care, not a replacement. The sooner you see a doctor, the healthier it will be for you and your baby.
